Yu-Pu (Frances) is a UK-based Taiwanese editor. She graduated from the National Film and Television School (NFTS) in 2023 and received the Best Editing award from the Royal Television Society Student Awards for her grad documentary WITH WOMAN.
WITH WOMAN also won the Best Student Documentary Award at the Grierson's and is currently being developed into a feature documentary with the help of BBC Storyville. Her narrative short film, Killing Boris Johnson, was officially selected at Cannes Film Festival 2023 and Raindance Film Festival.
Since the beginning of Frances' career, she strived to discover new points of inspiration from different cultures and artistic practices, carving out a more distinct path as she develops her own unique style. Many of her recent works also place an emphasis on topics across cultural identity, race, and gender. Frances sees editing as a form of writing, a creative and collaborative process that aims to strengthen the power of visual storytelling across both fiction and non-fiction projects.
