Thomas McDonald is a former BFI NETWORK x BAFTA Crew and current BAFTA Connect member with a decade’s experience producing shorts, starting with Film London’s VIBRATION which screened at London Short Film Festival and was long-listed for BIFA Best British Short.

His BFI NETWORK Midlands short CATCH A BUTCHER, made for a total budget of £44,000, screened at Cambridge, Underwire, and Flatpack Film Festival, before releasing online with Alter.  He produced JIM, the BFI South East-funded short, which premiered at the Iris Prize Festival where it won Best Actor and the Audience Award, and was screened on Channel 4, ALL4, and released on DVD with Peccadillo Pictures.  Two shorts he produced recently for shortFLIX screened on Sky Arts in 2023. He has been mentored by HOW TO HAVE SEX producer Ivana Mackinon and SAINT MAUD producer Oliver Kassman. He recently became a mentor himself via BFI Film Academy x BAFTA. Thomas recently secured BFI Development Funding for a feature adaptation of his short, CATCH A BUTCHER, and has a number of other feature projects in development including a few with Anima Entertainment.
