Farah Qayum is an award-winning factual Executive Producer with over a decade of documentary filmmaking experience.
Passionate about diverse characters and untold stories that say something about the world we live in, Farah has been instrumental in creating a number of ground-breaking films, as well as specialist factual, observational documentary and current affairs series that have sparked debate and discussion.
She developed and produced a groundbreaking single on middle-aged women who are the matriarchs of the Asian community for BBC 1 titled The Bradford Aunties. Other work includes prime-time BAFTA-winning documentary series Muslims Like Us shining a spotlight on the diversity of Islam in Britain, the Grierson awarded Hometown about the proliferation of drugs in West Yorkshire and helped shape global formats for youth-skewed programmes including Educating Yorkshire and the Great British School Swap.
She has produced and worked with a variety of talent including award-winning journalist Mobeen Azhar, chef and comedian Big Zuu, global actors Adjoa Andoh and Riz Ahmed and uncovered a wealth of fresh talent. Much of her work has focused on serving big, noisy series and singles for a British audience.
Farah has worked across development and production and across television and radio and is particularly adept at gaining access to hard to reach communities and stories, handling sensitive subjects and pushing the creative boundaries of factual content.
