Cassiah is an award winning writer/director represented by Independent, who began her career working for Gurinder Chadha OBE after a chance meeting on a train.
Cassiah’s work has been awarded in the West Field Screenwriting Awards (finalist); BBC Script Room Drama (longlist); and at multiple film festivals. She has directed five short films which have screened across the UK and internationally. Her recent BFI Network award-winning film 'Catch A Butcher' - an ambitious British/Indian period horror film - screened at BAFTA/BIFA festivals, and was acquired by ALTER and BFI Player. Most recently, she directed the BBC Studios short award-winning thriller 'The Pink Pill', which is currently in its festival circuit. Cassiah is now working on her debut feature and is developing multiple projects with Anima. She also works as a screenwriter having a number of other film/TV projects in varying stages of development. She was a member of the BFI Network X BAFTA Crew 2018-2021 (mentored by Angeli Macfarlane in 2018), and is currently a member of BAFTA Connects 2022-2025. She was also a BBC New Creative 2020, completing an original BBC radio drama which premiered on BBC Radio 4 Extra in 2021. Recently, she was a Trainee Director on Apple TV's ‘HIJACK’ mentored by showrunner/director Jim Field Smith. Cassiah has also been mentored by director Claire McCarthy.
